How Does It Work?
Voice Carry-Over
Voice Carry-Over

Click here for more information regarding VCO to VCO.

  1. Dial 1-888-VCO-WORD or 1-888-826-9673

  2. A Maryland Relay Operator (OPR) will answer. On your text screen, you will see "(VCO ON) MD Relay OPR# (gender) nbr pls GA".

  3. Using your voice, give the OPR the number that you want to call, followed by "Go Ahead".

  4. When the person you are calling answers, you can speak directly to him or her. Please remember to say "Go Ahead" when you are ready for your caller's response. This alerts the OPR to begin typing their reply back to you.

  5. If you would like to make another call, don't hang up. The OPR will remain on the line, ready to assist you, the moment your prior conversation ends.

Setting up a Customer Profile is strongly encouraged with VCO.

For instructions for family and friends on how to call using VCO, click here.

VCO / TTY USERS NOTE: In order to place a VCO call, your TTY should not be in ASCII mode.
